i was watching a episode of ... i forgot dr-phil not sure it was a talk show about a girl with schizophenia, she took clozipine and lithium (severe schizophenia) and still didnt respond well, but i was just wondering the use of lithium, depakote, tegretol in schizophrenia would have any improvement. Because it's a thought disorder, not a mood disorder (which are mood staiblizers for treatment)
any imput, quick thought please write

It depends if it was schizophrenia or schizoaffective. They may have said schizophrenia (as this is better understood by the public) but there could have been a mood component.

the psych drugs have pretty much the same affect on everyone's brains. maybe not when there's serious brain damage or heavy psych drug cocktails at work?
the question isn't will adding (lithium, tegretol, whatever) "improve the Schizophrenia" per se, so much as it is...
what is being targeted? if its a group home environment, for instance, there seems to be a tendency towards excessively high tranquilizer dosages and also the heavy handed use of mood drugs (I've heard its mostly depakote in my area).
if someone is living alone and trying to work, one might see the use of, say, trileptal or lamictal to try to keep the tranquilizer dosage as low as possible, so they can function better in day to day life.
I cannot imagine clozapine -and- lithium. that sounds like punishment, honestly. ugh. :-(

lithium would be a great mood stablizer in use for schizophrenia - there's probaly many people who are on antipsychotics and lithium, that even sounds common. Not sure how depakote would work with schizoid cases, but it does bring down manic or over dopamine and is sedating

have a conversation with a state hospital doctor, they could easily awnser this question since they review and treat schizophenia cases daily
