What does Abilify feel like?

Posted by Prefect on July 15, 2018, at 15:59:11

So 20 mg a day of Trintellix has done nothing for me. Doctor just gave me a prescription of 2 mg a day Abilify to augment it with. Though a seasoned serotonin drug taker, I have no idea what to expect from Abilify and am a little terrified of it, lol. How does it make you feel at lower doses?

way back when, I started with low dose Abilify, back when the "target dose" (and the dose in all the sample packs) was 15mgs. anyway...

low doses=added "something" to the ssri I was on, I did more, more energy. as the dose moved up...basically, it became a cleaner, easier to tolerate tranquilizer.

based on my -very- limited experience...going over into 10mgs or so was when the "feel" became more of a tranquilizer, less of a booster for mood drugs.

By tranquilizer you mean it was sedating?

not really. by tranquilizer, i mean it started having a definite anti-agitation effect, without as much of the bad stuff from other tranquilizers (low mood, laziness, apathy).

abilify is my go-to tranquilizer, because it keeps me stable w/o the zombie effect of, say, risperidone. i kinda question how wise it is for doctors to use it for people w/ less severe problems, but...ok. just watch out for tics, twitches, td, etc.
