Hi all,
Living in Canada, we are about 6 months away (hopefully) from marijuana legalization. Strangely, however, CBD based products will still be controlled.
I am looking to get an appointment for a medically supervised CBD trial. I still have a number of hurdles to jump through for this, however.
I still have issues with anxiety and insomnia and am not finding suitable relief from traditional treatments.

Hi Lamdage,
How did you try it? (i.e. what form). What were the main effects for you?
Was it pure CBD or did it contain THC?
Thanks,

Hi linkadge,
i had a liquid containing CBD. There was no THC in it. I didnt have any effects. I was nervous to try it and then anxiety just went sky high. But that shouldnt deter you from trying because i had no lasting harm whatsoever. It was gone after 1 or 2 days of not taking it. It did not feel like placebo anxiety at all. My doctor told me to stop.
Good luck.

My hopes where high to not need traditional antipsychotics anymore.. thats why i was a little anxious. However i dont have any explanation for the sky high anxiety. I think it was the CBD. High doses CAN do that. Dont have to though.

OK. Thanks for sharing.
I'm going to see a doctor next week who may (or may not) recommend something along these lines.
Basically, I'm looking for a bit more appetite (I'm 6-2, 120 pounds), some improvement with sleep (still having ongoing insomnia issues) and perhaps a bit of effect on mood.
I'll keep people informed.

You can buy this in the UK, which is quite interesting:
https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/jacob-hooy-cbd-oil-5-60018333?skuid=018333
Hemp products are legal here so long as THC content is below 0.2% - otherwise, it would be a Class B drug. CBD oil, on the other hand, cannot be advertised as having medical value, or else it would need to be a prescription medicine. As a result, the above product isn't advertised as doing anything.

I'll probably get my weenie whacked for this, but I 'm not a schill and have nothing to gain. Ive used them more than once, their crystalline CBD is a great va;ue.https://www.thecbdistillery.com/product/99-cbd-isolate-powder-from-hemp/
In my experience CBD by itself is not very magical but working in synergy with other medications, especially if pain in an issue, it can at least lessen ones dependence on opioids.

>Are you looking at a tincture? Here the choices are a bit dizzying. You'll need a bit of patience to make it work-- between dosage, the ration cbd to thc, and method of dosage, it's like threading a needle. I hope your doctor is a great help. I trust your patience and observational abilities will go a long way. Good Luck.

I know of two people who came from psychiatric institutions and now run very normal lives with no medicines. Both of them found their new lives with marijuana. Both require high amounts and there is also high tolerance - they don't get high and their eyes are not glassy red - but their lifelong depression is gone.
In my lyme wars I got terrible nausea from antibiotics. But I am skinny and cannot afford to have nausea. So I started smoking a little so that I could get 'the muchies'. It worked. But something else happened. For the first time in many years I actually felt a few hours of normal, of being in the world, a part of the world, connected, and from that point on my antibiotics began to work a lot better.
With the benefit of hindsight, cannabis is very helpful for antimicrobials and anti inflammation. It has antibacterial activity on its own.
I have never seen anybody psychiatrically cured by psychiatric drugs. Never seen it. Maybe temporary remission, here and there, spotty, rare. But never a cure. I have seen marijuana actually offer total cures. It fits into my antimicrobial/antitoxin/antiinflammation view of psychiatry. It is consistent with all that.
If it were me I wouldn't wait for it to be legal.
I have tried CBD oil. It helps amazing with anxiety, tremors, nervousness. I wasn't depressed when I used it so I don't know how it does with that. I do know that it developed tolerance quickly and you have to ramp up doses. I have never heard of it pooping out like meds do.

Thanks for the responses.
Yes, ideally I would be looking at some oil / tincture. On first thought, I was thinking about going with a high CBD / low THC product. However, after searching around, it appears that *some* THC appears beneficial.
I'm not sure what to expect, but some improvement in sleep / anxiety / appetite would be appreciated - even if it doesn't replace other meds.
We'll see what the doctor suggests.

Thanks for the info.
Yes, I have seemingly tried many other targets with 'meh' success. I'm mainly looking for something to nudge me in the right direction.
I too am thin (6-2 120 pounds). Even if I could gain a 'healthy' 10 pounds I would likely do better. The 'munchies' sounds like a desired side effect.
It's funny, I was 10 pounds heavier 10 years ago!

You may get the munchies but when you are not high you will have less desire to eat. It strikes me here that people here discuss recreational drugs as treatment.

There are a lot of different strains with a lot of different compounds and applications. Cannabis minus THC is not really regreational.
Canabis is used medically in many applications in a growing number of countries.
Benzodiazapines and stimulants can be recreational. They can also be theraputic.
