I've been on clomipramine for quite some time now. The funny thing is, whenever I sleep for approx. 11 hours or more, or when I lie down even longer, say from 13 hours on, really strange side effects start to happen. Of which I now know one is orthostatic hypotension. Does anyone else experience this ?
When I sleep for maximum 7 hours the next day, something has 'reset' and all the side effects seem to have disappeared. Can anyone clarify this ?
Love, Marty

Hmm.
Interesting. I do know that sleeping can adjust the balance of neurotransmitters (i.e. norepinephinre / acetylcholine).
Oversleeping possibly lowers norepinephrine, which may actually create symptoms that mimic withdrawal from the drug.
I know that when I oversleep, I occasionally get 'brain zaps' (while on Effexor). I think what is happening is that the Effexor supresses REM sleep, and if I oversleep I probably get some form of REM rebound (which can produce some of the side effects associated with antidepressant withdrawal).
TCAs can cause hypotension alone. Oversleep might be counteracting this by increasing norepinephrine output. Oversleeping might reduce this and hence reveal the side effect of clomipramine.
Random thoughts...who knows.
