Rexulti update...

Posted by Sheilac on July 25, 2016, at 12:17:45

I've been using the starter pack of Rexulti the past 5 days. So far, I've noticed a huge increase in thirst & urination. I don't think it is helping with my sleep, plus I'm getting up 3 times a night to pee!

I finally read the info pack that my doctor gave me and it states that if you have an increase in thirst, urination, etc., to contact your doctor because it could be an indication of high blood sugar, which is a side effect of the med.

So, I don't really like it. I'm hoping that my doc will switch me over to Latuda, since I do well on Geodon, I'm thinking Latuda is a lot like Geodon revamped. Not sure.

But I can't take all this drinking & peeing on Rexulti.

Oh well.

That's good advice. You should follow it. Contact your doctor tomorrow. Don't just show up at his office a few weeks from now having discontinued it. Call him now.

It is my impression that Latuda is not like Geodon. So far, I haven't seen any success stories with it. That doesn't mean that it isn't a good drug, though. Have you seen any success stories treating your kind of illness?

Reluxti is like Abilify but with less akathisia. It is approved by the FDA to treat depression as an adjunct, and is also indicated for mania and schizophrenia.

I hope your doctor has an explanation for this.

1. Is your mouth dry?

2. Is there any history of diabetes in your family? He might want you to have your blood sugar tested. Call him tomorrow. Don't give up on Rexulti so fast.

I am interest to see how you answer my questions.

My doc was ok with me trying Latuda.

The unbelievable thirst and constant urination became painful. My bladder was starting to hurt due to all the urination.

There is concern about diabetes. I have it in my family and I've always been conscience of it because of taking Geodon.

Also, in 5 days of Rexulti, I gained 4 lbs. I didn't even realize it until my doc asked me to step on the scale. I never changed my weight. That is frustrating.

But I did fail Abilify, so I'm not shocked that I didn't like Rexulti. I gained 8 lbs on Abilify.

So, I'm going to slowly wean off Geodon while ramping up on Latuda.

I feel pretty good about it.

I think you're moving in a good/better direction here. I don't know much about Latuda...I have a friend on it, and she tolerates it well+is doing better.
