violent impulses on Latuda?

Posted by porkpiehat on June 10, 2016, at 10:15:57

On day three of Latuda 10 mg and I became so enraged with a client and had such violent urges that I made him leave. I have felt somewhat detatched with people, like they weren't really even people, on Latuda and risperdal, but the violent impulses and crazy violent dreams are scaring me. I woke up with some kind of akasthesia last night.

Some seratonergics make me extremely irritable like serzone and buspar and zoloft. I am not psychotic but possibly BPII/trauma so we are trying to stay away from SSRI's at the moment.

Currently taking lamictal which is sapping my drive and ramping persecutory thinking, not helping much with anxiety.

Is this a common side effect for latuda? I'm worried about trying to "push through it" and doing some damage.

Isn't there a genetic mutation that can spur rage with certain psych meds? Perhaps this is a facet of trauma being laid bare.

Could a low dose of lithium address the persecutory thoughts from Lamictal? I don't freaking know :(

Do you get persecutory thoughts on lamictal alone? If so, then yes, you may try a lower dose and / or augment with lithium or tegretol.

Then again, it depends what your diagnosis is.

Persecutory thoughts can be a sign of depression or some type of psychotic tendencies. Have you recently come off an ssri?

I'm wondering if lamictal should be reconsidered. Agitation can be a symptom of a BPll not properly treated or partially treated. I mention this because of my own experience with BPll. Not rage as you describe, but irritability and easily angered. In addition, I found Latuda to be absolutely awful. I was so agitated that suicidal thoughts which are not the norm and only appear under extremely negative mood episodes.

As far as persecutory thoughts and psychotic tendencies, I can't comment, however when I am mired in deep depression, I ruminate, and untreated, touch upon delusional.

Good luck.

I was on celexa for about 5 years when I discontinued abruptly. I had anger attacks, as well as persecutory thoughts. Interestingly, at that time I was diagnosed with bipolar and put on lithium.

You might try reintroducing a low dose of SSRI with lamictal or lithium. I currently take lithium (300mg) with about 10mg (extremely low dose) of Effexor. It works fairly well.

Everybody is different but SSRI withdrawl alone can create certain bipolar or schizophrenia like symptoms.

I tapered extremely slowly and stopped altogether around March 1. Do you think the BP Dx resulted from this withdrawl anger?

I'm still having bouts with anger but nothing like the violent impulses on Latuda.
