Looks like my ADHD is undifferentiated (combined inattention/hyperactive-impulsive) type. I realized this after being in residential mental health treatment - I blurt things out and behave somewhat impulsively in addition to spacing out, losing focus/concentration, forgetting where things are, messes of paper, etc...
Does anyone know about using Aricept (donepezil) for this? I know it's off label, but I could have sworn reading in one book about how a woman claimed it helped her increase her amount of working memory tremendously.
Trying to think outside of the box for my next appointment, although thinking increasingly that I want to go back on Focalin XR.
Best,
-z

Aricept and Nemanda are good for restoring cognitive function that has declined, the effect still could be somewhat controversal compared to traditional psychostimulants, but if there added with a psychostimulant it could increase the effect and cause a smart drug effect

Are we related?

How do you like it? Advantages/disadvantages? I like Ritalin IR because I can dose it as needed. But I've considered that something "smoother" might even out my highs and lows during the day.
Thanks,
Jade :)

I found Focalin (IR) to be very smooth, but adequately energizing. The stimulant effect lasts for about 5 hours, and the let-down is not abrupt. I don't know how Focalin XR behaves, but it is taken once a day in the morning.

Aricept is a reasonable drug to explore. I have no personal experience with ADHD, so I can't address the question from that perspective. It can have robust antidepressant in some people. I am guessing that this is an unusual reaction.
To look at things from another angle, there is a newer antidepressant, vortioxetine (Brintellix), that improves cognition even before an antidepressant effect appears.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24787143
"Vortioxetine significantly improved objective and subjective measures of cognitive function in adults with recurrent MDD and these effects were largely independent of its effect on improving depressive symptoms."

"Path analysis indicated that vortioxetines cognitive benefit was primarily a direct treatment effect rather than due to alleviation of depressive symptoms."

I've tried Aricept and Namenda for ADD.
Had no discernable effect on my attention, motivation or memory.
Made me feel a bit weird, though.
This is the end of the thread.
