I've read and been told by my dr that the next closest medicine to luvox is Lexapro...I am skeptical...any thoughts?

Kinda makes sense. Celexa is supposed to be cleaner than other SSRI drugs, and Lexapro is cleaned up Celexa, so...yeah. Plus, I don't think Lexapro has all the drug-drug interactions that Luvox does...and its supposed to very tolerable. I think its now in generic.

Joe I honestly don't know. If I were to write what I've read about each then the answer would be no. But none really did much for me. Phillipa

I don't think they're the same, no. Luvox is mostly used for OCD. I read somewhere that its also sometimes used in psychotic depression to good effect.
Lexapro is an effective AD that is also usually fairly tolerable. I think that's the big selling point, or was before it went generic. If I recall, Lexapro is also supposed to be more "calming," so it'd be a good choice for anxiety and such. I was Rx'd Celexa for an episode of depression with lots of anxiety and agitation. It worked; I imagine Lexapro would have been at least as effective. I didn't get any major side effects, just apathy after several months.
This is the end of the thread.
