If you do get accepted into a clinical trial, there's usually a 33% chance that you'll receive the placebo. It looks like Rapastinel will probably receive FDA approval in 2018.
I understand your frustration. There are several experimental treatments for depression that I've been reading about for years (low-field magnetic stimulation, for one), but I won't be able to try them for another two or three or more years.

Synchronized Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (sTMS). This appears to be far more effective than rTMS, and is probably more effective than Deep TMS.

The depression helmet also appears to be far more effective than rTMS. It's being developed in Denmark, so it will become available in the EU before the US.

It's thought that inflammation frequently plays a role in depression, and in bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. There are some anti-inflammatories in the pipeline that are far more effective than the ones that are currently available, and have far fewer side effects.
