Any comments?
I have been taking lithium carbonate 450 mg/day (150 mg t.i.d.) for a few years. My doctor recently prescribed Lithobid 450 mg/day (450 q.d.). I think it was an oversight.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of taking a single dose of Lithobid versus multiple doses of simple lithium carbonate?
Thanks.
- Scott

Scott although it was years ago there was a time period when lithobid was not available and the docs were upset as lithobid was in their opinion superior to the carbonate. Since it's now available. I would ask your doc how it considers it better. As for conversion rates not idea. Phillipa

This is an old post Scott but I'm wondering if you stuck with lithobid of went back to IR?I have been trying lithobid in place of IR for a few days to see if it resolves some stomach issues. So far it seems to have me in a good place mentally. I see my doctor today to discuss.
Also what generic brand do you take? I had good success w Roxane brand back in 2010/2011 and noticed more side effects when my pharmacy switched to Glenmark. But then I stopped taking lithium anyway. In 2015 I was put back on it again w Glenmark (same pharmacy). I'm wondering if perhaps I should seek out th older Roxane brand generic.
Thanks for discussion.

Do you take the generic? If so Roxane or Glenmark? Have to choose this afternoon (found a pharmacy w/ the Roxane which I used to use).
