phillipa talked to my family dr and says it could be the possible effect on the addition of tegretol that is the problem....because it lowered the klonopin from 3.o to about 2.0 quickly.....I think I might roll the dice and taper thr tegrtol ..I believe at such a low dose 400 and such a low level its at 5.0 the range is 4-12 ...whats the worse that can happen .....crisis....I believe this is the problem also and its time for a new dr....I am waiting for a PA to call

Joe I thought of you this weekend and knew that you would do has you said and contact your doctor. Has a medical doctor ben prescribing all your psychiatric meds for you? You say waiting for PA call. Meaning Physicians Assistant is this correct? I don't think I make changes on my own unless advised to. Anyway to see a psychiatrist as to me your case is both medical and physical? A Consult between the two? How do you feel today? Phillipa

no here psych drs and med drs don't communicate ....my psych dr would not even call the other psych dr for an apt for me ....unfortunately the other dr can't see me for 2 weeks......I feel a little better for I am dosing my klonopin 3 times daily as prescribed....so went from 3 to 2 (because of tegretol) still believe some residual withdrawals speaking w an educated pharmacist and friend 2 morrow....would like to hang in there until appt....have lost faith in my current dr. maybe things will work out....if feel real badwill go to crisis....trying not to obsess....remember it was my current dr who told me to cold turkey off 60 Cymbalta for 2 weeks...thoughts.....and it could be something else going on

Joe you must understand that I am no doctor and have no authority to advise you on what she should and should not take. Or even changes in the meds. When changing psychiatrists I always had to call another one myself especially to see if they accept your insurance. And if they have appointments. Getting close to Holidays is not ideal time to find a new doctor. Can the hospital give you a list of names to call or even the Crisis Center? Glad you feel somewhat better today. Phillipa

I am still concerned that your changes in mood, anxiety, and suicidal ideation might be side effects of Tegretol (carbamazepine), which you began taking only recently and coincides with your worsening.

I've taken tegretol for years at higher doses...all I wonder is if this time the tegretol was added after the klonopin and it would have dropped the klonopin from 3 to 2...

I think your idea needs to be considered by your doctors as a possibility. You might have to increase the dosage of Klonopin higher than 3.0 mg/day in order to compensate for the Tegretol.
Questions:
- When did you start taking Tegretol again?
- How did you feel before you started taking Klonopin for the first time? In what ways did it help?
- Why did you need to raise the dosage to 3 mg/day? How did you feel at 1 - 2 mg/day?
- Have you ever been suicidal before?
- When did you take your last dose of Cymbalta?
- When did your current suicidal symptoms appear?
Sorry for all of the questions. The answers might help your doctors figure things out. Perhaps you are suffering withdrawal from both Cymbalta and Klonopin at the same time. Cymbalta withdrawal can last for several weeks.

Joe I feel time for crisis as too long to wait. Now before the Holidays. Please? Drug levels will be taken if you explain about the tegretol and lowering the dose of klonopin you are now on. Please keep me posted. Having medical conditions also means to me that the meds may effect you differently. Phillipa

Has anyone tried botox for depression? Could this be a new treatment or just a fad. I see a lot of opinions about it and have considered it. Insurance won't pay but need relief!
