Can mania occur from tweak your meds too often?
When I first added Lamictal to my celexa 10 years or so ago, it was activating and had a positive effect on my motivation and depression. Possibly even a little too activating. Not sure it was the Lamictal or the celexa being potentiated by the lamictal.
Anywhoo they moved me onto a really cheap generic which I was on for years and in the past year or so I was getting sad, confused, and lots of suicidal ideations (usually within 1-2 hours of taking the lamictal) to the point of desperation this summer.
I demanded the old brand of Lamictal and haven't had a single ideation since...but now I've bounced in the other direction. I'm feeling for the first time in my life what I might describe as clinically hypomanic, not just impulsive. It becomes harder and harder for me to stop talking and become very animated and overbearing. And then I'll get super tired, and then bounce back up.
I'm 43 and never been officially diagnosed BPII but my dad and sister both have. I think the running theory is more PTSD/complex trauma/affect deregulation. I have an overly liberal doctor that prescribes anything. I would prefer critical thinking and direction but when I'm feeling trapped or in crisis I do what I can (switch up meds) to pull out of it, keep going to work, and maintain my ability to do schoolwork.
I thought lowering the lamictal even further would minimize "super Craig" but not so much. I don't want to fall back to the suicide Lamictal...Can anyone think of why this might be?
Thanks
