Anyone know bout 'non steroidal anti inflammatory'

Posted by Lamdage22 on October 1, 2015, at 13:45:36

Which one is the best and is ist safe for me to take with my cocktail?

I dont take Nortriptyline anymore. I figured i may try again when my Antipsychotics are down. Right now, the Nortriptyline weight gain and Antipsychotic weight gain combined is too much!!

I am incredibly disappointed to hear this. I apologize if I didn't list weight-gain as a possible side effect. It is a VERY big deal when you can find something else that works equally well or better. Increased hunger is often a startup side effect that dissipates quickly. Still, some people demonstrate weight-gain in the absence of an increase in caloric intake. It is metabolic, although I don't know the mechanisms involved (5-HT2a antagonism?).

Desipramine would be the logical substitute for nortriptyline if you wish to pursue a treatment with a TCA. It usually does not produce weight-gain and might even reduce appetite.

I don't think weight gain is dosage-dependent with APs. It's all-or-nothing. Hopefully someone will check me on this.

Have you tried Saphris? I've seen people lose the weight they gained on Abilify and Seroquel after switching. I'm going to guess that it is the Zyprexa that is helping the most. Your Seroquel is high. How do you know that you still need it? (I'm not saying that you don't). Seroquel can be a bigger weight-gainer than most people realize.

How much?

Me too Scott. I am thinking to try Brintellix.

As of AP weight gain independant of dosage, it doesnt feel that way to me.

it makes no sense to take something just for the sake of taking something.

I think the idea of taking medication for mood is okay, but the options are just not very good at all.

That's an interesting observation. Perhaps my observations of a few different people can't be generalized.

Brintellix seems to work better than Viibryd. I am interested in tryinng Brintellix myself. It should have fewer side effects than TCA. Let me know if you gain weight on it. I hope it works well for you.

It is easy to develop a love-hate relationship with drugs. I love them because they help me (although only moderately). I hate them because they have side effects and don't help me enough.

I once had drugs work well enough to bring me into full remission for an extended period of time. I still hope to find a treatment that will do that again, even if it means using a brain stimulation therapy. I am interested in the deep TMS (dTMS) type of magnetic stimulation as is effected by the Brainsway device.

I'm glad you are still being constructive. You don't need to be optimistic in order to make constructive decisions. It is logical to move forward rather than stagnate and remain stuck. Even if you abandon psychotropic drugs altogether, I'm sure you will keep moving forward using alternative therapies.

By the way, NSAIDS have been suggested as a treatment for bipolar depression. It is thought to work by reducing brain inflammation.

I don't believe it - yet.

I think Celebrex (celecoxib) has been tried. I've been on it for several months without effect except for diarrhea.

I hope we will find what we need some day and all this hardship will be worth it.

For wide spectrum potent anti inflammatory that can actually stand a chance of wiping out all psych symptoms, turn to the plant medicine world not the chemical world. Study up on how to treat Lyme with herbs, and you will have all the good names at your fingertips. They work as good or better than any OTC product and even as good or better than prescriptions such as COX inhibitors. Plus many health benefits and nutrition that come with them, extra bonuses.

Other than that, the best OTC I've ever tried was from a dentist and it really works good....Tylenol and Advil at the same time.

Curcumin is supposed to be great at decreasing inflammation. But you gotta take it with Bioperine, which is found in black pepper. Otherwise, your body won't absorb it very well. Some Curcumin supplements come with bioperine already combined with it. But since these supps cost like twice as much, you could just get a regular Curcumin supp and take it with at least a teaspoon of regular black pepper from the grocery store. I've read this much black pepper should contain enough bioperine for your body to absorb Curcumin. But of course taking that much black pepper is a bit unpleasant.

I tried this and a friend of mine also tried it. It seemed like on days I'd take it, my mood was a bit better, but I suppose it could have just been a placebo effect. Though my friend said it helps him a lot.

Oh and also, bioperine might cause your body to absorb more of other supplements and medications than it normally would. So it's best to take it at a different th time of day than when you take other meds. Or separated at least an hour from your other meds.
