I don't think you'll get the same benefit from doxy.

Eric given for lyme's disease. Mino has too many side effects. It even changed the color of some of Scott's skin he'd posted. So if used for lyme's disease must cross the blood brain barrier? P

It does cross the blood brain barrier, but there is little evidence supporting its efficacy in treating schizophrenia in humans.

I took doxycycline for many months in the hope that if I had a tic-born infection, I would eventually feel better. Nothing.
Minocycline is a completely different species. Yeah, it helps with infection, but it does other things in the brain that doxycycline does not do.

I experienced a moderate improvement in depression within days of starting minocycline. It might work better if taken with Lamictal (lamotrigine)

Minocycline is finding lots of uses in psychiatry and for other things llike ALS. Minocycline is an antibiotic that can modulate glutamate-induced excitotoxicity, and has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects.

only 3 dosages, total remission of negative and depression and psychosis, but i have IBS now, i had to quit due to heart pains too
doxycycline can reverse schizo in adulthood i have read on a site i have posted it here recently
