I was wondering if anyone knew of a physician in South Florida that would prescribe oral MAOI (nardil or parnate). I was on emsam and I did have somewhat of a response to it; however, my insurance will no longer cover it (too expensive) and my pdoc will not prescribe oral MAOIs.

East or west coast? I had a doctor in Naples for 10yrs that's familiar w MAOIs. He let me try the whole lot of them and has other patients taking them.
I moved out west so stopped seeing him last year.

I live on the east coast of florida but naples is only about an hour away. If you could give me his name, I might go to him if I can't find anyone else

James H.a.l.i.k.a.s
I put the dots so the thread doesn't come up on google for an uneditable post.
He's not the type of doc I'd recommend to someone who has never had a pdoc before but if you know your meds he's great. Definitely not afraid to to try things. I know he gets some bad reviews on he internet but I think thats mainly from people who have never seen a pdoc before and/or do their own research.
I was afraid of not finding a new doc out in LA (where I moved to) who would continue to prescribe my Marplan. Luckily my first random pick worked out but I was definitely afraid of paying for a visit to get a script for Lexapro. So yea good luck - I understand the feeling.....

Why won't your pdoc prescribe it?

He said he has never prescribed one of the oral ones before and he does not feel comfortable do it. It took months to get him to agree to emsam, much less nardil or parnate.

Dr Noel D.e.l.g.a.d.i.l.l.o in Kendall let me try both Nardil and Parnate. He's a good doc.
This is the end of the thread.
