I've never heard of reuptake inhibitors pooping out?
Just kidding.
That's probably one of the most common complaints and it is almost predictable that it will happen sooner or later.
That said, at other forums I have seen people on remission for 10 years on prozac or zoloft. Honestly, I have never seen claims like that with any of the other antidepressants except parnate.
Increasing dose can work, maybe. More often than not, it leads to a poop out at a higher dose, making the eventual withdrawal from the drug even harder than it would have been at a lower dose. But there's no way to find out unless try. I think side effects are probably the limiting factor. But sometimes, a simple dose increase is all it takes.
Adding another med of a different mechanism can work. For example adding a TCA to any other antidepressant (except Maois), or actually in my opinion the most effective add-on if remission is the goal is either ritalin or adderall....people usually like one and hate the other but there is no way to know which is which without trying.
Each person has a different journey and I think the most important thing is to try stuff. The does not mean filling a prescription is going to do the job. That's just the start. Other things need to happen.
This is the end of the thread.
