i have noticed the last couple weeks (about the time i started lamictal) that i do have a harder time breathing.
1) my nose seems congested, but not congested, more like its swollen so much to where i have been breathing with mouth at nights.
2)i have asthma and i've been having to use my inhaler at least once a day if not more due to a wheezy thing.
3)also at nights, probably due to the nose thing i've noticed when i'm going to sleep i sometimes have to gasp and open my mouth to breath (because i by habit try to breath through my nose).thing is i dont know if its allergies (i sometimes have problems but not a lot)
or if it could be from the lamictal.i tried to search online but only briefly and i didnt see it...
though i like asking here because many have side effects that aren't listed.any insights greatly appreciated.

so ive been noticing some repiratory issues as of late, but last night was the worst.
im just wondering if this could be some weird side effect of lamictal, i try to look up SJS but i dont have any facial swelling or blisters etc. so i'm not sure if its applicable.i feel like my throat was swollen. either throat or back of tongue. it was so scary... and of course between the breathing and the fear i couldnt fall asleep until about 3:30(am).
i put call into pdoc first thing this morning just waiting for someone to call me back to tell me what to do.what's weird is i dont have a rash, but last night i was all terribly itchy, but it was kind of like allergies where the itch is under the skin...
i am wondering if anyone could give insights to if this is just a severe reaction of allergies? or could this be some weird side effect of lamictal?
just that it coincides with my upping lamictal my symptoms seem to get worse so i cant help but associate the two.
ALso, how quickly can i wean off lamictal if needed?

i only took 25mg this a.m. since i was waiting to hear from pdoc.
nurse finally called about 3 and she said to just stop entirely for about 24 hours and let her know if symptoms relieve.i wanted to post that it is now about 5:30 and my throat does feel better. much better. my nose still feels a bit swollen, but i can take actual deep breaths through it. so i have a bad feeling that it was because of the lamictal.
which quite frankly sux, because i am actually starting to feel better mood wise (aside of the slight insomnia).
i was getting to the point where when i was breathing they weren't deep breaths because of the nasal swelling and i would at times get tingly and slightly light headed. thats when i would use inhaler.
i will post again tomorrow to affirm suspicions of lamictal. :(b2

Dear b2chica,
You seem to have unusual side effects with a lot of the medications you take.
Could these reactions be psychosomatic?
