I still get anxiety some days in mid-afternoon. What to do? Take two small hits off of your delivery system of choice and it is gone. Right now. In minutes you will be listening to your music and eating Doritos. I'll take that side effect over a benzo withdrawal any day. If I moved to Colorado, I could start a legal garden at home the day I got there. No copay. Get busted in Texas with a few grams and you face up to 180 days in jail, $2000 fine and loss of your driving privileges. If you are black, that's what you get. If you're white, the cop takes it and splits it with other cops. My inner-activist is coming through again but sh*t someone has to do it.

You are lucky you get that effect from it.
For me its pure paranoia.

Remember, its the cannabidiol in the Marijuana that exerts the calming effect. THC is stimulating in nature and at worst causes paranoia.

Not every strain causes pure paranoia. Look at medicinal clinics in Colorado or in other states where pot is legal. But, in your defense, you probably don't have access. In that case, do what you must, don't eat it, vape it or smoke it.

Every benzo I've ever taken (with the possible exception of Versed (midazolam), which I feel doesn't quite count since I was under general anaesthesia at the time) has given me the munchies. I try to avoid taking Ativan except when I'm feeling so jittery I just can't relax or concentrate or to stave off a panic attack (fortunately I rarely have anxiety issues these days). Think the anxiolytic properties of benzos & cannabinoids might be related to this irritating side effect?
(I'd think it would be "marijuanapam," or perhaps "-lam," as in diazepam, clonazepam, alprazolam, etc.)

The munchies side effect? I've been on Clonazepam so long that I don't know. Weed is known for the munchies but I find with the right strain and building tolerance, that side effect fades, not 100%.
Munchies aren't a bad thing. You have have fruits and vegetables at home to munch on. If you buy Doritos then you will eat them. I struggle with this too.
I have no idea if I answered your question.

A friend of mine suggested I try it when I was going through withdrawal from Depakote and was having severe panic attacks.
I gave in and tried a little and it actually did help more than a benzo to calm me down. Panic attacks from withdrawl are terrible.
But weed won't be my thing. It ultimately makes me depressed, always has. But it was a quick anti-panic med for a few days.
I don't drink and normally don't use weed.

Marijuana is terrible for anxiety . It is NOT an a central nervous depressant it is a mild hullucinogen.

Gave me derealization and panic attacks every time I tried it back in the 70's. Didn't matter what strain, home grown or high grade. Haven't touched it in 44 years.
People should be warned. Some people don't respond well, some do. I remember avoiding parties because pot was virtually at every social gathering back then.
