> Pfizer, Gavis, Greenstone
Lamdage22 is correct. Here's a quote from a post that I wrote last year:
"As far as the "brands" of Nardil are concerned, it's my understanding that there are three versions available in U.S. pharmacies: the Pfizer name-brand Nardil and generics made by Gavis and Greenstone. Greenstone LLC is a subsidiary of Pfizer, and considering that the inactive ingredients in Greenstone's phenelzine are the same as those in Pfizer's Nardil, it would be my guess that the two versions should not differ in any way. The version of phenelzine made by Gavis Pharmaceuticals does differ from the Pfizer and Greenstone versions as far as the inactive ingredients are concerned. I do recall reading one or two online anecdotal reports saying that the Gavis phenelzine seemed to be better in some way than Pfizer's Nardil, but it did seem that the few individuals who were still posting on the Anxiety Community's Nardil forum (which doesn't seem to exist anymore) around the time the Gavis phenelzine came out did not find the Gavis phenelzine to be any better than Pfizer's Nardil."
The above quote of mine is from this post: http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20130408/msgs/1041961.html

I argued with Ace during one of his more recent visits to Psycho-Babble (or what might have been his most recent visit to the site). He certainly seems to have a rather unique way of expressing himself, although I guess we all do to an extent. I hope that Ace didn't decide to stay away from Psycho-Babble because I argued with him, and I'd be interested in hearing about how he's been doing.
Are you out there, Mr. Nardil champ?

I agree i wouldent want to turn anyone away either.
What upset me is for instance me,i have times of full remission,i think with the amount of suffering here WE NEED people who are doing well to stop by and remind us we can live a good life.People who achieve remission then come back ONLY when they want something and not to remeber they once used the site and they kinda have a resonvibiility to share this with us and encourgae us.
This is especialy true with ace cause he was so smart and had so much to share i found it a shame we had to wait till things for himm were bad each time to benifit from his knowledge.

Yeah, I know that Ace wrote here that he was studying to become a psychiatrist, so yes, I do think that these boards would have benefited if Ace were to have stuck around and shared his knowledge. And I think that you're right that there is a need on boards like this for those who are doing well to remind us that they were once struggling like many of us and have since gone on to see their conditions improve to a large extent. Hope certainly is important, and I think that you're right that many of us whose conditions are at least somewhat "treatment resistant" would find it encouraging if those who are no longer struggling with their illnesses would have more of a presence here on Psycho-Babble.

Tell Suzie I said hi back.
I think Ace and I were arguing about depression. I think I remember commenting that people might find his argument to be true if they were living under a rock for 50 years, or something to that effect, but I think I made an apology of sorts.
Anyway, it's always good to have Babblers who used to post more frequently come to visit the site, especially when they're doing well. It was good to read in your other thread that you likely will be getting your modafinil, and I really hope that you'll benefit from it along with Parnate and any other medications that you might be taking in the long run.
I hope that both you and Suzie are doing well, even though you may be feeling rather fatigued as you continue to wait for your modafinil.

I've been taking Greenstone Nardil for @1 yr.s Took Parnate prior to that.
Both I took 1mg klonopin /day. I started having diarrhea with both the parnate/greenstone. I weeded out everything else from diet. water, etc.
I finally decided it had to be the Greenstone formula. I requested the Gavis brand.2 days after the gavis brand the diarrhea stopped and I started getting benefit from Gavis. It's been a month and I now wash the coloring off prior to taking.
I thinking all this coating for the small intestine isn't true unless it's under the paint.
Is anyone else trying Gavis brand? My doc wants me off the maoi and go to Cymbalta. I'm getting to have limited choices as I'm now using the V.A.
system........my inability to work has depleted what savings I had.If anyone on the site is a veteran pls. look into the V.A. They take away some choices but you hope they more experience, as they work in teams and share success vs. failure.
This is the end of the thread.
