5-ht7 antagonists

Apparently, agents which antagonist 5-ht7 receptors can act as antidepressants (and augmentation to other antidepressants).

Doing a little reseach, oleic acid (and oleamide) (readily present in olive oil) can act as a 5-ht7 antagonist (or modulator).

http://www.researchgate.net/publication/12730496_Allosteric_regulation_by_oleamide_of_the_binding_properties_of_5-hydroxytryptamine7_receptors

"saturation binding experiments, oleamide caused a 3-fold decrease in the affinity of [3H]5-HT for the 5-HT7 receptor, without affecting the number of binding sites. A Schild analysis showed that the induced shift in affinity of [3H]5-HT reached a plateau, unlike that of a competitive inhibitor, illustrating the allosteric nature of the interaction between oleamide and the 5-HT7 receptor. Oleic acid, the product of oleamide hydrolysis, had a similar effect on [3H]5-HT binding,"

You'll want to be sure olive oil's 5ht7 antagagonist crosses the BBB. 5ht7 receptors arent only located in the brain. theyre also located on blood vessels and in the GI tract.

theres a list of meds that have action at the 5ht7 receptor on the wikipedia article.
