I thought tramadol was a basically fairly new med but after searching interenet seems it's been approved for many years? Anyone know how long it's been approved for? Thanks Phillipa

It was introduced in West Germany by Grunethal (the company responsible for thalidomide, hmmmm) in the 1970's
It hit the english speaking world in the mid 90's and gradualy became more popular over time

Hi Phillipa
I used it for a few weeks when i strained my neck, and found it great, especialy the factyou can still take tylenol for breakthrough pain while on it.
When my mother had her hip replacement, tramadol SR was a middle step for her pain, first she was on Oxycontin and Percacet, then Tramadol SR snd Tylenol, then just Tylenol or Advil, she also found it good.
It is about the same strength as Tylenol with Codeine # 3, but with less potential for addiction and abuse, less constipation and fewer other side effects.
