GLYX-13

Posted by topdog on July 8, 2014, at 14:20:14

Hi,

There is some really strange shi* going on with my brain lately..it must be the Nardil messing me up,
my brain is not working correctly anymore, it's really embarrassing, you know when your brain looses ability to control your body's temperature and you overheat doing very little physical movement or just because of little higher temperature.

..without Nardil i'v checked out long ago thou, but on it, some days i feel OK, the other days i feel like the misery is never going to end and there is no point of living if it's going to be like this for the rest of my life.

I'm really waiting for the ketamine based drugs to come out, any info? Does anybody know when is the GLYX-13 release date?

..and as always, good luck!

It almost never stays like this for the rest of your life..

Ups and downs.

Hang in there

I don't know about Ketamine

Hi, I took another MAOI(Parnate) for a year and I felt exactly the same way. The reason I think this happens is because MAOI's completely wipe out your ability to get REM sleep. Do you often feel like you are so tired at the end of the day that you can't even see straight? My vision would get blurry after 6 PM or so because I was so mentally and physically exhausted. Towards the end of my Parnate trial I was so completely exhausted that I just couldn't think straight and I was sluing my speech. The best thing I ever did was get off of it. I read about GLYX a while back, but haven't heard anything since. If I had to guess, I think we are a couple years away from GLYX or another ketamine-based drug from hitting the market. I wish there were better answers for deperession and insomnia for us, but there just aren't. At least we werent't born during our grandparent's generation. We would have really been in trouble then. My grandma suffered with the worst insomnia and depression her whole life. It was awful to watch.

Hi again,

I'm really sorry about your grandma, but that doesn't help now, does it? I frequently find my self wondering, what if i was born few hundred years earlier, when there was no med's available at all.. without any hope..
and at the same time if i was born few hundred years later.. i would be cured instantly!

anyways the strange think is, that after 2 weeks of bad depression, i feel good today, it's like returning from hell! I can't understand what a fuc* is going on with my mind :) at least i know now if the depression comes back, it can go away as well, like magic. I thought Nardil quit on me for good but today it smiled at me again, or maybe i just got better, who knows :)

I think what helped as well was:
-taking off from work for two weeks
-Consuming no alcohol, one crazy party can trigger depression afterwords, i really need to keep myself away from weekend drinking nights.

and as always,
Good luck!

I also have my good and bad phases. How long does the depression last for you after you drink? For me, it lasts a week before I feel significantly less depressed.

Top Dog

I've been using Nardil for numerous yrs. I would suggest the following:

Eating: no peanut product, no sweets, no tomato product. I've found these lessen the effect of Nardil

Brand of Nardil: I find Gavis fillers more tolerant than Greenstone. Greenstone causes me diarrhea.

Dose: You're on to high of a dose. Each time I try to go above 75mg/day here comes the sweating, higher BP and pulse rate.

I utilize a journal and each time I have a bad day I look back and see what I ate yesterday. Like today.......screwed up and got up in the middle of the night and ate Oreo's. Stupid but I was craving sweets.....so I'm paying today.

Hey,

I read
"GLYX-13 Tolerability

In both Phase 2 studies, as well as previous Phase 1 studies in healthy subjects, GLYX-13 was well tolerated, with no serious adverse events related to treatment. Importantly, GLYX-13 did not cause the schizophrenia-like psychotomimetic effects associated with other drugs that target the NMDA receptor in a different way, such as ketamine."

Does that mean it is not inclined towards causing psychotic like features like Ketamine does?

What is "psychomimetic"?

Got it:

Definition of PSYCHOMIMETIC
: producing effects (as hallucinations or paranoid delusions) that resemble or are identical with psychotic symptoms <psychomimetic drugs like mescaline>

Well, Glyx-13 sounds awesome to me if it is not inclined towards giving people psychotic symptoms. Thanks for posting.

That and possible future anandamide drugs... It is a good thing i stopped smoking. I may have the best time of my life later on when i am "middle aged" and old aged.

Another Ketamine-like drug Lanicemine

I found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanicemine

If those drugs have NO psychotomimetic side effects, then id sure as hell give em a shot.

Not quite as promising as Glyx-13, but its good to see that something is happening in research.

I wonder how long we have to wait for cannabidiol-like treatments targeting Anandamide.
