I need to take something a couple nights a week to help me get back to bed. Has anyone been successful with using clonidine for falling asleep?

Just be aware that depression is a fairly common side effect of clonidine. I don't know the statistics.

Thanks for letting me know Scott. If I use it twice a week is it less likely to cause depression for me than someone who takes it every day? I'd ask my doctor that question, but I'm pretty sure the guy knows nothing. He can tell you about Prozac and ritalin and that's it unfortunately.

I don't know the answer to your question. However, I have seen clonidine produce a profound depression in someone who had no prior history of mental illness. It emerged within a week or two of starting clonidine. I don't know the dosage used. Fortunately, the depression resolved within a few days of discontinuation.

Wow, thanks for letting me know. I was given Clonidine and Sonata. I'll give both a try and hope for the best. We will see.

Awesome, I'll be trying it soon. Did you have rebound insomnia the next night?
