Brintellix experiences?

Posted by BusuB on June 23, 2014, at 15:44:15

Good afternoon babblers, I've been on Brintellix for the last 7 days, and concurrently discontinuing Cymbalta (30mg) after a failed trial. I've been on 10mg since day 1 and still find myself fairly nauseated off and on through the day which is expected. However I'm finding myself very moody these last couple days. Not downright depressed but having low moods off and on throughout the day paired with not so low moods (I hesitate to use happy). Also, I'm finding myself fairly tired despite this med not interfering with my sleep much.

Is this experience fairly typical? I know it's early in my trial, so AD effects aren't typically felt by now, but what is everyone elses experiences?

FYI, my diagnoses are MDD (under control but not quite in remission), GAD (ditto) and PD w/o Agoraphobia (in remission).

I was quite nauseous upon first starting Brintellix and the subsequent dosage increases to 15mg and then 20mg (each one week apart). Also having discontinued Cymbalta (30mg), I remember being quite moody for the first few days. Both the nausea and irritability have gone away. I'm at about 4 months on 20mg and doing okay. Not great, but okay. No side effects to speak of. I was hoping it would help a bit more with motivation. Just added Latuda (10mg) a week ago. We'll see.

BusuB:

I'm into my third month of Brintellix at 30mg a day. The only real side effect I've had is decreased sexual desire, but that has kind of gone away. There has been no real "build up" effect. Brintellix seems to start working immediately after I take it and wear off within 10-12 hours-ish. I take 20mg in the morning and 10mg in the afternoon. It's giving me some antidepressant and anti-anxiety benefits, but not very robust. It's better than Viibyrd, which I took for 7 months. I also find myself fatigued and not "opened up" like I want a good antidepressant to work. My diagnosis sounds somewhat similar to yours as I have serious GAD (verging on panic), depression, and there is definitely a tendency toward agoraphobia there. I hope Brintellix works for you.

Chris

Thank you for the feed back. I'm on day 10 now and while my appetite is still a little funky and the fatigue remains, it seems to be getting better little by little each day.
