Going in to see my pdoc tomorrow to discuss coming off zyprexa as it is doing nothing for my depression/ocd but mostly depression. Latuda was great for depression but the akathisia was unbearable even at 20 mgs. Any experiences with saphris or risperdal? Thank you,
Mogger

Hi Mogger,
I have used low dose risperdal, which didn't help with depression, but helped somewhat with mood stability.
Saphris helped my depression so much that I became hypomanic. But it was one of the nicest episodes I've experienced :) It's amazing for sleep and more tolerable (to me) than Seroquel. It kinda' was an addictive drug in that I craved it. Weird.
I must warn you that when I came off, I became anhedonic,, but that can happen after AP use. I probably should have taken half or a quarter of the wafer.
Do you deal with bipolar?

What about Latuda with Mirapex (ER) to offset the akathisia (Mirapex is indicated for restless leg syndrome)? I take Mirapex myself with Abilify, I got on it when I was on Latuda and noticed a difference in my akathisia feelings.
I don't have enough experience to say about Risperdal but it can be good as a depression augment.
I would recommend Saphris -- it had a really nice AD effect for me at 5mg (that lessened for me at 10mg) that started really quickly -- within 2 days. My counselor has heard of it being used for *unipolar* depression at her last job.

I am unipolar. Thank you both for your responses. I shall opt with saphris as I think it is worth a shot at this point. Hopefully the saphris along with my other ADs will help. My fingers are crossed. Thanks again,
Mogger

Saphris has more 5ht1a agonism (Risperdal actually antagonizes 5ht1a). This helps with depressive symptoms.
Try Geodon. It agonizes 5ht1a and 5ht1b receptors and is also a SNRI.

My doctor isn't a fan of Geodon in his experience. Are you on it?

I'm on it and it has been killer for my mood.
