I was just reading this disturbing story (see below) in the New York Times a couple of days ago. It messes with all of my worst suspicions about the pharmaceutical and supplement industry. It makes me feel like those of us who "depend" on psycho-pharmceuticals and supplements as an attempt to "normalize" our brain chemistry are truly trapped in this twisted and endlessly more neo-liberalist global capitalist economy. Really depressing.

I read the article. But is it just the ingredients that get sent to the generic drug companies who them formulate the meds. If so than is this the real reason for so many antibiotic resistant illnesses. Could it be they are not resistant but just have no antibiotics in them? Phillipa

I know, right? (But I doubt that is true.) And could it be that's the reason I took multiple different SSRIs and SNRIs over a three year period and felt nothing, nary a "side effect?" (I also doubt that's true, this article makes me wonder.) What's more troubling to me is the complete lack of oversight, and the fact that various contaminants (heavy metals, etc.) could be inadvertently put into the drugs. Really scary.

Another story from 2012 that I had never seen about this shady global manufacturing industry with respect to pharmaceuticals. Really depressing to me. We are truly the guinea pigs in a sick global profit game.
