I'm always surprised to hear how sensitive so many people seem to be to their medication. I'm taking Klonopin and I find that it's minimally satisfactory at 4mg a day, all at once. On a rough day when I really need to keep the other humans at arm's length, I take 6mg. But still, its no biggy. I can't imagine someone finding 0.5 mg helpful, let alone having difficutly with withdrawal.
The reason I ask is I'm considering reducing the klonopin to 2-4mg a day for my own peace of mind and trying Xanax for the rough days.
My only problem is my GP is giving me cautious prescriptions. I see they come in three sizes and naturally I'm getting the smallest kind.
Does anyone that requires a similar dose of klonopin know what dose of Xanax they find effective?
Also, I've read some comments from people that find small doses of xanax preferable to larger doses. This sounds odd. Anyone else have this experience?

Is the benzo your primary medication,if so i can see one taking a higher dose,a more frequent dose as well, this being ur primary med its likly your gonna become tolerant to dosages much more quickly.
Most people who use .25,.5 and even 1 mg use it either as needed or as a secondary medication to offset anxiety that there firsy medication i.e ssri etc might not hit or even cause.
I personaly couldent tolerate a benzo as a primary med,i tried it and the drug becaome ineffective very quickly.
I find it most useful as an adjunct to my primary anti depressant.
Also i noticed as i weigh more i require higher doses of everything.

I'm the same way. I am finally starting klonopin at 5 mg a day which seems to be helping quite a bit, although still not even close to perfect. AT one point, I was on 12mg of Xanax XR daily and I did not notice a THING in terms of anxiety. Maybe a bit of drowsiness but still as anxious as before I started it.

Wow 12mg a day! Only took around 3mg a day. Eventually all it did was make me tired. So stopped and taking valium now. Fondly, Phillipa

I was scripted 2mg tabs of Clonaz up to T.I.D, and quite frankly after a while (when my brain wasn't benzo nieve)I could take 3-5 2mg tabs of em and it did jack.
Xanax was rather different. it was, and (i wish i still had a source) aVERY effective benz.
I was put on a benzo taper and now have to ration out my monthly Diazepam 5mg tabs.
Cheers

It might be wise to add a dose of mirtazapine (say 45mg at bedtime) or some other anxiolytic antidepressant to your treatment
Cheap, safe and often very effective.
I found Nardil best of all, but it isnt cheap
