No, only the related antihistamine diphenhydramine. It worked well for about 2 nights, but tolerance developed rapidly. After this time, there was no sleep-inducing effect at all, just some mild side effects.

Do you mean the Doxylamine version of Unisom? I think I saw a Diphenhydramine version also.

In USA There is a generic brand available at Walmart: "Night time Sleep Aid", with 2 versions: diphenhydramine and doxylamine (read the smaller print on box). I don't endorse Walmart I just want to simplify life for my Babble friends.

Doxylamine is more effective for insomnia than Ambien and Lunesta with fewer side effects. I have been taking it for years.

Doctors won't tell you this about Doxylamine. They prefer to write a prescription for a medication because that is their protocol they are comfortable with and they either don't know about doxylamine or are uncomfortable telling the patient the best sleep aid is available over the counter. Doxylamine comes individually wrapped tablets somewhat difficult to unwrap. This is because its relatively toxic and doesn't take a lot of tablets to overdose, so beware. The half life is more than 2x longer than diphenhydramine and is significantly more sedating making it much more effective at inducing sleep. I take doxylamine 3hrs before bedtime to avoid morning sedation.

This is the end of the thread.
