I'm going great guys, feeling the best I have in years
Current med regimen
Nardil 30mg twice a day
Xanax 1mg twice a day
Nortriptyline 75mg at night
Seroquel (generic grey market indian) 50mg at night when needed for sleep
The Nardil has realy turned my life around, I have managed to drop the Xanax from 4mg a day to 2mg a day with no withdrawl symptoms, the panic attacks are gone, and the generalised anxiety is totaly under control
Hope everybody is doing ok

Its a really nice feeling Phillipa, I think I'd been sick for so long, I'd forgoten what normal was.
Next bridge to cross, due to an epidemic of abuse by heroin addicts, the government has decided that as of January 1st alprazolam will become a Schedule 8 drug (more or less the same as a CII drug in the US, same schedule as morphine etc) which places certain restrictions on prescribing it long term (if you take it for more than 4 weeks you need a second opinion from a specialist, and this has to be repeated every 6 months)
I dont want to go through all that, so am going to change to a different benzo... after a fair bit of research, I think lorazepam is probably the best substitute..... it has similar potency and pharmokinetics, and because it isnt covered by the government health scheme, its expensive, so it isnt likely to follow Xanax as the heroin junkies benzo of choice (I have private medical which WILL cover it though)
Hope you're doing well phillipa

Jono what do heroin junkies do with it? After all the years of use by me I'd have to also change. But since the only benzo can't take is klonopin it would be fine. I found lorazepam to be just as good. Normal would love to be me again. Phillipa

Hi Jono, I am new to this website but I wanted to let you know that I am really happy that you found the right medication combo for yourself, and the fact that you found such amazing relief gives me hope that one day I'll feel better too. I think you deserve a trophy for being so strong and patient while going through the "med-go-round." :)
So, congratulations and more importantly, good job for hanging in there!

i think they crush it up and inject it with the heroin to increase thwe "hit" they get. Unfortunatly, it also increases the chance of an overdose, hence the governments action in re-schedualing it.
Have to see my doc next week and ask how he feels about a change to Ativan, hopefully he will be ok with it
