I didn't know this as it hyped me up so couldn't take it years ago. But guess with ADD that it would work the opposite? Phillipa

Fluoxetine is said to have stimulant effects, so that is possible.

"Specific details of the stimulant effects of fluoxetine, used in excessive dosages and in conjunction with other drugs, are discussed."

thank you doxogenic....really wow, i started noticing at times hwen i was working, at times prozac will enhance my motivation, but its mainly through the mood....it enhances the mood so you feel like doings things you don't want to do in a bad mood....stimulants are just stimulants, stimulate the motor skills and all that....

thanks!!

Hi rjlockhart37,

I took Prozac for about a month (wasn't the med for me,) at 20 milligrams. It didn't help me to have more focus/fix my attention/concentration issues but that could also be because my problems probably come from anxiety, not ADD, and Prozac didn't do much for my GAD. However, it definitely helped my mood and motivation so much which can most certainly help you do things that you don't feel like doing!

Sorry I don't really have much to add. I just figured I would give ya my .02 :)

Thank you for your positive reply. Here is more about fluoxetine and ADD:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100921070355AAS23kf

Excerpt from the link above
Can increasing my Prozac dosage help with ADD?
[...]

It *can* help. It isn't guaranteed, but it has been shown to be incredibly effective for many ADD/ADHD afflicted persons.

Yes, Prozac is an anti-depressant.. really the first developed Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor. SSRI.

Thus it will generally have the most 'data' behind it, and many off-label uses.

Over time it has been discovered that Prozac can have a positive effect in those who have ADD with a pathology that incorporates serotonin. Low levels, imbalances at the synapse, and so on.
