Day 1. No issues to report, and I'm thankful for that! None of the problems that I experienced with Parnate occurred, today.
I took 15mgs at 6am, and 15mgs at 2pm. I did feel the starting "fatigue" that is talked about, but it wasn't that bad and went away after a few hours. I also felt a sense of calm, which I assume is attributed to the GABA that Nardil brings.
My doctor told me to increase to 45mgs daily after one week, which hopefully if things continue I will do.

Hi!
I as well just (re)started Nardil 18 days ago, this time around i'v increased the dose slowly, not going straight on 60 mg and i have had virtually no side-effects except little insomnia which i have anyway. Right now i have been on 60 mg for 4 days and doing great.
Good luck with the Nardil!
and thank you for helping me out on another Nardil thread :)Topdog

Day 2 was just as day 1. No issues. I believe it's safe to say that my body likes this med better than Parnate.
I am noticing a very strong smell from my urine. Reminds me of the smell you get when you have eaten asparagus. Research shows me that this is pretty common.
I do feel a stronger need to eat carbs (no liking that too much) hopefully that will go away once the full effects kick in.

No issues to report with Nardil. So far, it appears that I have no problem taking Nardil at all. I have noticed nothing yet in relief from depression symptoms, but I'm still in week 1.

Past few days on Nardil have been fine. No issues to report, I seem to be holding well at 15mgs, 3 times a day. I take one in the mornings, one in the afternoon and another before bed (totallying 45mgs). Still nothing in the relief of depression department. I saw my Pdoc last week. We will increase in 1 month if I have no relief from symptoms.

2 weeks now on Nardil. Been on the 45mgs daily for 1 weeks, now. Nothing to report. I haven't experience any issues, nor symptom relief. I'm curious to see how long it took others to start seeing something from this med.
As far goes as side effects, the only thing I have noticed is the continued smell of urine and waste. I attribute this only to the smell of the pill, because it too smells like this.
I haven't experienced any wait gain, infact I have lost a few pounds. As I have always said with medication, it is not the meds that make you gain wait. It's calories in, versus calories out. That said, I do still crave carbs/sweets but I just try to control this.

Still not a single issue with taking Nardil. I have experiemented with some craft beer (not draft) Same Adams, stuff like that and I was fine.
Still no help from depressive symptoms. I will see if I can go to 75mgs when I meet with my doctor this week. If after being on 75mgs I get no relief from symptoms I will come to the conclusion that after failing all anti-depressant drug classes, this is not depression and is something else all together.

There are lots of people with depression who don't get any effect from antidepressants. It took me 15 years with trial and error before I found a combination that had a lasting effect.

What other illnesses would you anticipate exploring?
I knew one guy who complained of chronic depression and was treated for it. He was neither anergic nor cognitively slowed. His doctors tried just about everything on him as monotherapy. Polypharmacy was avoided for some reason. We were both frustrated with this. One doctor got the bright idea of treating him as if he had ADHD and went on to try Strattera. It changed my friend's life. Not only did the depression resolve, but he was able to organize his apartment for the first time and was able to manage his time more effectively. His illness completely remitted.

Thanks for the posts, guys!
Well, I have tried just about everything, and been tested for just about everything. I've tried about 3 different ADHD/ADD meds with no blip. Stimulants, as well. My main complaint is just the tiredness daily, lack of refreshing sleep, no motivations, and cravings for sugar/carbs.
I meet with my doctor tonight. I want to see if I can go up to 75mgs and hold that for a month. If that doesn't work, I will discontinue use of this med. I miss draft/craft beers far too much to take something that doesn't work.
I will say, the Klonopin has been working great. I've been taking .5-1mg nightly and it's been really helping me relax and fall asleep. I wonder if I stay on this for long enough maybe it will fix my tiredness issues (stress related, possibly?)
I worry though, since Klonopin is a Benzo and highly addictive and from what I've read and pain in the *ss to get off of.
I will talk with her tonight about both. Report back later.

I used 1 mg clonazepam (Rivotril in Norway) at bedtime for more than a year, and when I tapered down very slowly, I didn't have any withdrawal problems. But my mood was a little bit elevated when I stopped using it. Not hypomania, just less depressed.
I tapered down with 0,25 mg in a week or two, so it took a long time.

Talked to my Pdoc last night. She moved me up to 75mg daily. 15 mgs pills. 2 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon, 1 before bed.
I will see her again in 1 month. If I get nothing from this, we will taper back down and discontinue use and try to find something else.
She also doesn't want me using Klonopin the way I have been. She said to take it only on the week days and give it a rest on the weekends. She's affraid I will built up a tolerance for it and it will cause issues.
I will only take .5mg during the week nights, now. She said she would like me to go on Trazadone if the Nardil doesn't workout for sleep. I have taken this before for sleep, but only at 50mgs. She said she has some patients at 200 and it seems to work. She also mentioned trying some new drugs in a combo for to see if helps my symptoms.
I'll write back in a week or so to let you all know how I'm doing on 75mgs of Nardil.

> I'll write back in a week or so to let you all know how I'm doing on 75mgs of Nardil.Thank you for the update. She seems like a competent Pdoc. If trazodone works for sleep, will you quit Klonopin then? I take 1 mg clonazepam as needed about 2 - 5 times a month, and it works perfect. But mostly, I sleep well with Seroquel, trimipramine and agomelatine (see all my meds and the doses in my signature); I often sleep for 12 hours, and it feels good. To be sure to avoid tolerance build-up you may use Klonopin about twice a week because it has a long half-life (30 - 40 hours).
What meds have you tried for depression and sleep before?
