Read The End of My Addiction by Olivier Ameisen. Crippling anxiety drove him to drink. After many failed attempts at rehab, thousands of AA meetings, many trials of benzos and antidepressants, he was still drinking heavily. Then he discovered the muscle relaxant baclofen, which took away his anxiety, and his craving for alcohol.
Another effective treatment for alcoholism is neurofeedback. A study done at UCLA found that 77% of alcoholics who received neurofeedback were abstinent one year later, compared to 44% in the control group.

Are you talking specifically from the withdrawal or just in general? If it is withdrawal, I have learned to taper.
From your post it sounds like the main problem isn't addiction but being depressed without it. Is that right?
What is your medication history?Today I was just thinking that I wish i could drink to help my mood, but the brain and body price I would pay for the next few days would not be worth it. My pdoc doesn't believe it helps mood, but it does for me. It is so unfair to be around people who don't get depressed after drinking!!
This is the end of the thread.
