Hey,
i know i post alot at the time, i need alot of support right now, that my doctors cannot provide or are reluctant to provide.
What is the maximum tolerable dosage of Metformin? I now have access to metformin XR which i think is a huge advantage.
I can get 1000mg extended release and 500 extended release tablets. My biggest problem is eating during the night. So i think the XR will be far superior to the regular release.
Is it safe to take 2500 mg?
Should i take like 1000 XR in the morning and 1500 XR at night for my problem?
Anyone have experience with this? If i ask my doctor in the hospital, they could get mad. But i just see my belly growing and it kinda sucks. Ontop of that i eat really unhealthy. Im like a Heroin addict looking for his methadone at night.
Is metformin making folks depressed?

Some posters on here did add metformin but no one mentioned depression just that they lost weight. Phillipa

Kewl.. i am glad i can get my hands on the extended release.
Im being tortured with Seroquel above 400 right now. Real mood killer. But its like if i dont "try" they dont even talk to me about Parnate. At least thats what i think.Its like trying to find c*ck attractive to me. Like "hey if its in your *ss for two weeks, maybe youll like it".
Lol. Im trying to deliver my rant with some humour, so its easier to digest;)
This destroys my relationship witj Seroquel, im starting to really resent it. And them.

Metformin XR doesn't have any advantages over standard metformin in terms of efficacy, but it does seem to cause slightly less gastrointestinal distress.
The usual maximum dose of metformin is 2000mg per day but up to 3000mg is not uncommon (at least in the UK). High doses cannot be used unless kidney function is clearly normal.

Thanks, ed. Well it should certainly be enough for me on a normal Seroquel dose like 400, which i believe is plenty for me.
Id rather take a bit less Parnate. Well see.. i will listen to the Drs and maybe even try, but im not going to do everything they say if it leads to deteriorating mental health or even if i suffer too much in the short term. Im here to feel better. Period.
Say, is there any long term damage possible from a 10 day Seroquel trial at that 500-600 mg dosage?
Ps.: At least i like my sense of humor :P

If you're one of the unlucky ones you'll be cr*pp*ng in your pants the first 30 days, literally.
Search Metformin diarrhea and go to a diabetes site.
I lost a lot of weight very quickly but I had to lay off.
My bro is Type 2 and had no problems.
Losing that weight lifted my depression by itself.
If you're in a public place and you have a bit of gas to eek out don't do it!!! lol You'll get more than you bargained for.
Try to get your doctor to give you something to get you through the first month.

The highest I got was 1000 but I may have stayed at 500 most of the time. They say do not take it with carbs but always take it with food. That alone does the trick for many. If I take it again(I will) I'll get something to get me thru the first 30 days. It's motivating to weigh yourself every other day and you've dropped another pound.

I took 3 850mg pills. No problems with my stool really. Were talking problems in the first week at best.
Now i plan to take 1000 mg extended release in the evening between dinner and bed, and 1000 mg extended release after breakfast.
If i wake at like 5 in the morning, which happened just now, i will take 500mg immediate release for immediate craving relief. I hope this will be enough. If i still dont lose my overwheight, well then Seroquel needs to say byebye and im going down to 400mg. 200mg worked on my psychosis just fine. So why would i need 600 now only because i take Parnate?!?
I hope they are really extended release tablets that go for 12 or more hours. Dont know, guess i would have to ask the manufacturer "Knoll"

Why did you choose to take 2000 mg/day? Most of the studies demonstrating successful weight loss used 1000 mg/day.

Thats a disaster. I do have some muscle left from working out in the past but still. Its a desaster. I worked my *ss off for my body, i dont deserve this.
Do you think the sustained release metformin covers 24 hours? Do you think 1500 might be enough? And do you have any idea what blood-work results i need to check to make sure my liver/kidney tolerates it? Standard blood work?
