i need some help.pdoc did rx dexedrine but ER 30mg am. been on since last thursday.
that thursday i slept most day., sat bit better. sunday getting dark thoughts again. all thoughts of death and suffering.
today a little better but its only because i'm with my girls. yesterday i went to church by myself and it seems anytime i'm by myself i just drop. reality sets in.
when i'm in 'mama mode' i can mask my true feelings.which is ok as a destraction. but not good for med change.i left a message for pdoc nurse yestrerday telling her my darkness is back. and i have yet to hear from her. i'll leave another message in a minute. but i cant do this.
i had such severe akathasia night before last i was up till 2. till i took another 1mg haldol.
having severe tired all day. depressive symptoms. blah blah.
im home alone the next three days.
i get such aggitation in evenings.
i need to txt pdoc tonight if i dont hear from nurse.i just need help. i even Said those exact words on message. i cant believe she hasnt called me...
i TOLD her it hits me hard and fast.
i NEW the dex wouldnt work after that first day!!
man i'm so frustrated.i keep having visions of injuring myself bad.
but i dont have the energy for actions. thank goodness as of today i know that death is not something i want.
but soon i may not beable to discern what i really want from what my disease wants....any suggestions as to what to try next?
done ritalin, ritalin LA, adderall (teva, barr, corepharma, sandoz)
now dexedrine ERshould i try vyvanse? i dont like the idea of all day. the IR seems to be better, but right now i NEED desperately to switch to something else.
thank you for letting me vent.
at least i always have psychobabble. :(

You're unemployed? I'm very sorry to hear this b2c.
So adderall works for you, but you cannot get your brand--if I remember correctly? Adderall has more of a kick to it. Maybe that's just right for you. The dex you took might have burned through you too quickly, though you did say you could sleep through it. Personally, after trying all three plus Ritalin (not at all like adderall IME), I like Vyvanse. The all day thing is good for me. Slow onset, really nice middle period, then slow let down. No dysphoria, which I had with dex spansules. I also burned though those spansules way to fast, and I think I would have periods of too much dex at once in my system.
You could try it. I can keep up with my son in the during the day through supper. However, I know you had that Adderall working for you. Can't get your brand? (I forget why, sorry.)

Beckett offers some great feedback.
Which tricyclics have you tried?
You might look into using Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) to reduce your agitation and impulses for self-harm. This is more appropriate for bipolar than unipolar.

Stay away from stimulants...they will exacerbate depression, anxiety and mess with your sleep cycle.

Scott,
Is Tripleptal ever prescribed off-label for depression?
Thanks,
Roslynn

> Is Tripleptal ever prescribed off-label for depression? It is prescribed for conditions where impulse control or anger disorders are present, even in the absence of bipolar disorder. I don't know if it is at all effective for true unipolar major depressive disorder. The key word is "true". I believe that there are some cases of bipolar disorder that present as depression without exhibiting a history of unambiguous mania or hypomania. If someone with the biology of bipolar disorder can get depressed, why can't they stay depressed for a really, really long time? What if the biology of the depression for someone matches that of bipolar disorder, but that there is no biological symmetry extant for mania? Once we develop biological tests for depressive disorders, I suspect that we will see a great many cases of depression formally diagnosed as unipolar be understood to be bipolar.
So...
It might make sense to try adding a couple of mood stabilizers if there is a history of non-response to antidepressant treatment. Lamictal and lithium are good choices. I would even consider one of the antipsychotics that are known to exhibit antidepressant activity if all else fails. Seroquel and Latuda are currently FDA approved for bipolar depression. Abilify is approved as an adjunct to antidepressants for unipolar depression.

overall stimulants have been the one thing that have helped my depression through the years.
i was ablt to get on vyvanse but the 50mg didnt work. mood a little better but still soooo exhausted during day.
she upped to 70mg which after first day today. mood better. more energy, though did sleep for a couple hour nap today. but not bad.
i think this will help.sls i tried trileptal back in the day....had HORRIBLE reaction to onset. lucky i was in hospital at the time. but ended up not working for me as i stayed on it to try it out. figured the worst was over.
seems most "mood-stabilizers' dont work for me.
with the exception of gabapentin working for anxiety.but thank you for your support.!
lets hope vyvanse sticks it out...AND doens't go out of business or into generic anytime soon!thanks.
