Would suboxone be helpful in a painful xanax withdrawal. I know you can't take them together.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Suboxone is for opiate w/d as you said, but I've heard it can also really help with benzo w/d.
Thanks for your input.

Wean down to the lowest possible dose of Xanax that you can, and then if further reductions are difficult try replacing part (and eventually all) of the dose with a long-acting benzo, which is then reduced gradually and stopped.

I've used Suboxone for benzo withdrawal in the past (over a 2-3 week period). It can actually be quite helpful as it helps take the edge off.
Hugh's idea of switching to Valium and doing a longer taper is good as well. You can get very precise with Valium dosing and do it over a longer period of time, making the process much smoother.
Good luck.
