Hello, I am a new member here just would like to stop by and say Hellooo before i ask my question!
Hi everyone! :)Ok to my question - my pdoc has prescribed me Nuvigil at 125 mg (half tablet) of 250 mg for a week and up it to 250 mg (if needed). I am taking this medicine for extreme chronic fatigue syndrome and shift work disorder.
My pdoc and I talked and we raised it to 250 mg. So today was my first day at 250 mg, and i really don't feel that much 'energized', i dont know if i feel more awake taking the medicine than not taking it, so my question is, since this is my first day at 250 mg, is it too quick to judge how this medicine will effect me? The reason why i ask because even when the "peak plasma concentration" hit from this medicine, i felt a little better, not much though? What am i to expect?
Any Nuvigil users your comments and support would be a great help! Thanks everyone! :)

Welcome to babble. Unfortunately I've not used nuvigil. Hopefully soon someone with experience will respond to your thread. Phillipa

I use modafinil, which is very similar to nuvigil (nuvigil is an enantiomere of modafinil, meaning it uses only one part of the modafinil molecule-- presumably one that is either as or more effective as the full modafinil molecule).
Modafinil has an immediate effect-- it is not a drug that builds up over time to produce its effect. I can't say definitively that that is true of nuvigil, but I would expect that. So if you're not getting any effect after trying for several days-- days on which you think you're in what's an ongoing state for you (ie not days that are especially bad), I suspect you're not getting a high enough dose. Or the drug isn't strong enough in general, or isn't the right drug to treat your condition.
You probably should call your pdoc again and see what he suggests.
Good luck.
