In the off chance this works (or has not) for anyone, I'd like to hear. A few days ago I was given 10mg of adderall, and it was like being given a life for the day. I wouldn't say euphoric. In fact I could feel my anhedonia, however I felt like doing something. Less anxiety, too.
I don't know. Anyone willing to share knowledge or experience.
My doc is thinking of getting me back on Emsam which would do away with adderall.
Thanks.

My doc prescribed Adderall for me, reasoning that it increased dopamine and I had been addicted to opiates and became depressed after I stopped. I felt great the first few days I took it, then it had a paradoxical effect and made me depressed and sleepy and lacking in motivation. Hopefully it will keep working for you.

I wish that I could always feel as good as I did for the first couple of days. It's not fair that some people feel like that without taking anything...like actually wanting to do something (like you said).
Unfortunately, for most people the effect doesnt last. And then there is the fun "crash" when it wears off in a few hours. I would become more depressed than before I took it. The cycle would go on and on, seeming to get worse. Ritalin and dexedrine weren't quite as dramatic for me.
You may be lucky and not have these problems :) My pdoc was prescribing it for me as an antidepressant so he may have had some successes with it. It can definitely be an antidepressant, but it is a short acting one that your body develops a tolerance for very quickly. Stimulants are actually the only meds that have any kind of antidepressant effect on me.

> Thanks.I didn't care for adderall, but I've had pretty good luck with Focalin for when I'm logy and need to be more alert. It's related to Ritalin, but makes me less racy than Ritalin.
It doesn't act as an AD for me per se, but it can help clean up residual lethargy. I've never developed any sort of tolerance, and it does not seem to make me crash when it wears off.
My pdocs have definitely considered stimulants useful augmenting agents for treatment of depression. And it makes sense. If your depression is treated so that you're not in the pit of "heck" but you are still kind of dragging and not getting things done, you're going to feel a whole lot better about your life if you can get the lead out and accomplish some of what you need to do.

ER is better than immediate release. My favorite stim is Vyvanse. They say it lasts for twelve hours and it does.

My friend an ex babbler takes it and has for many years. He can accomplish nothing without it. Phillipa

Why did you stop Emsam?
Not getting enough sleep?
If your sleep is already poor then you will need something with Emsam to help with that. You think?

Thanks everyone for weighing in. I appreciate your replies. Adderall really isn't a complete antidepressant for me. I can feel the symptoms of anhedonia (a horrible thing), but the adderall gets me up and going at least. I currently am not taking an AD. I guess I'll see what the doc says next month. And I'll see if adderall's efficacy decreases over time. I have a month's supply of the ER version.

My friends that are considering taking an amphetamine, be advised that I am not permitted to share all that I know about amphetamines to you here due to prohibitions posted to me by Mr Hsiung.
But I say to you, do think twice about subjecting your mind and body to the chemical of amphetamine even if a psychiatrist/doctor prescribes it to you. There have been doctors prescribing amphetamine in the past and history shows what this drug can do to your mind and body. If you are considering taking this drug, I am asking that you read the following article.
