Hmmm, its 3.40am here and I've been awake for 2 hours, despite a sleeping pill - I think I might have my first taste of Nardil insomnia

For me, insomnia has always been a good sign that an MAOI was going to work to treat my depression. Since my anxiety is tied to depression, that, too, would recede. In my estimation, Nardil possesses an acute energizing property that is separate from MAO inhibition. If you are energized or experiencing insomnia after a single dose, I don't think you can attribute it to enzyme inhibition. Don't be afraid to treat the insomnia aggressively. It is paramount to not let this be the issue that forces you to stop taking Nardil.

I am impressed that your doctor consented to combine Nardil with nortriptyline. What is your blood level of nortriptyline?

I'll be praying for you.

I am beginning to surge upward. I found that the "sweet spot" of prazosin for me is 15 mg/day. I hope this continues.

Deal: I'll pray for you if you pray for me...

Good luck.

Thanks guys

I treated insomnia agressively last night, 1mg Xanax, 100mg Seroquel and 50mg Unisom - worked a harm.

I guess the insomnia is just a "running in" problem that will fade in time.

SLS - although my doc is only a GP, he is very smart and isnt afraid to push the envelope, which is reasuring

So, my current treatment is

Nardil 30mg bd

Nortriptyline 75mg qhs

Risperidone 1mg qhs

Alprazolam 1mg tds

Seroquel 50-100mg qhs prn

Hopefully the antianxiety effects of the Nardil kick in soon!

My doc wasnt keen on me taking nortriptyline or reboxetine with Nardil, but I have a strong endogenous component to my depression, and have always needed an NARI to keep it in check, I also showed him some research that showed not only was there no interaction, but that an NARI could help inhibit a "cheese reaction" by blocking noradrenalins release from the nerve endings
