I added it as "adjunctive therapy" ;-)
Great for not giving a f*ck.

Doesn't pot cause paranoia in a good percentage of users though, not exactly what an anxiety patient needs.

Some cannabinoids have anxiolytic effects at low doses and start to produce (or worsen) anxiety as you move up.

I don't think that THC is terribly effective as an anxiolytic. Some of the other cannibinoids that are found in marijuana are, however. In fact, there are endogenous neurotransmitters that attach to the canniboid receptors located in the brain - anandamide being one. Non-THC cannibinoids are, ironically, being studied as treatments for schizophrenia.
Marijuana exacerbated my social anxiety to the point of paralyasis. I literally didn't couldn't a muscle in large social gatherings.

I think that the only way to know for sure is to try it.
I think cannabanoid signalling is a long overdue target for a host of psychiatric disorders.
There was a recent study that showed positive effects of marijuanna use in PTSD. It also found that anandamide (natural cannabanoid agonist) was low in people who went on to develop PTSD.
I eat a lot of chocolate and in many ways find it thereaputic. Cocoa contains anandamide, anandamide reuptake inhibiting subustances, and other flavanoids that directy bind to cannabanoid receptors. Oleamide is a cannabanoid agoinist as are certain flavanoids found in tea.
If you haven't noticed, all the so called 'bad' drugs are being resurected as potential theraputic agents. Magic mushrooms, ketamine, nicotine, ecstacy just to name a few. This is not to say that all are perfectly safe, of course.

Others would disagree.

What amount, and which route of administration did you use?

What liabilities, if any, do you feel that marijuana has? Does it have any undesirable psychotropic effects?

I know people that may skip the last dose of the day and use cannabis instead. Experiment. If you have a connect request an indica strain. CBD.
The pot will work just start slow. You just have to decide if you want the pills or to sit home and eat Cheetos all day.

I have an incredibly stable, long-term anxiety disorder. Marijuana, for me, results in incredible paranoia verging on psychosis. However, I've heard others say it eases their anxiety. It just goes to show that everyone reacts differently to psycho-active compounds.

Well if I had the choice I would go with a benzo over marijuana for the treatment of anxiety. I don't doubt there is a strain of marijuana that helps anxiety...the problem is we need more studies to find this out.
I actually feel that marijuana might have more of an application for mood disorders than anxiety.

I have GAD and panic disorder. When I ate a pot cookie (as recommended by a friend who has access to medical marajuana) I couldn't move my limbs and started to have a massive panic attack along with paranoia. I ended up in emergency where they gave me a benzo to calm me down. I was still stoned the next day and my eyes were bloodshot for a long time. Very unpleasant experience.

No, but along side my meds which are now working, I smoke quite alot of weed, even BEFORE social events. It makes me chat alot more and care alot less what people might think of me. Need to limit it tho. I always have a bong in the morning, activates my mind? Maybe I should leave the rest till say after 6pm. Worst side effect is forgeting the whole plot half way thru a sentence. Hopefully someone was listening and can remind me what I was talking about lmao.
But the best thin its for is apathy and boredom. It livens up the brain, gets it thinking. Like suddenly wanting to listen to music.
Please understand tho, I DO NOT use it to get 'high or stoned'! I use small doses, just enough to feel it, which isn't much at all. Probably 0.1g (100mg) doses
This is the end of the thread.
