20mg Geodon as an AD?

Posted by sheilac on March 19, 2013, at 14:52:21

Anyone take just 20mg of Geodon for depression and notice a difference?

It seems like too low a dose. 40mg knocks me out but makes me a little too hyper the next day. (Only get about 6 hours sleep out of that)

When I tried 20mg, it didn't help with sleep and I didn't get any antidepressant side effects from it. Maybe I didn't take it long enough?

I thought Geodon was pretty much an immediate boost med.

On 40mg, I find myself hyper and interrupting people (actually, the interrupting people is pretty much a constant regardless of meds). Adderall has the same disastrous effect (happy, hyper, interrupting then bad crash with Adderall)

Today I woke up at 3:30 in the morning starving.

Still loving my Trileptal, but like most mood stabilizers it does give me depression. But my doc said that is what a mood stabilizer is supposed to do - bring you down.

Why would my doc think that 20mg of Geodon is good as an antidepressant? Is it?

i read somewhere geodon is stimulating at low doses...then higher doses it turns to slower thoughts and more calm behavior.

It would be a great med with a ADHD med because it does calm down hyperactity at higher doses.
