I got really sad and cried so much on Friday night after i went out drinking - I take 40mg celexa/day.
I read that depression symptoms can worse w/ alcohol...but I was wondering how long it usually takes to go away. If it's supposed to have gone away already then maybe I should start seeing a therapist because i just can't stop crying and being sad. But if it just hasn't worn off yet, then I should save my time and money. ??

If you feel that at least some of your depression is related to interpersonal issues, like feelings of not fitting in, being lonely or socially fearful, then a good relationship with a therapist can really help. Have you had previous experience with a therapist, and, if you have, was it a "good fit" and at all helpful to you? As so many people have emphasized, having a therapist who is really right for you is crucial. Let us know what your experience has been so far.

Weekends can be hard. I hope you are feeling better today. If not perhaps it is time to look for someone.

Sharon Alperovitz is a highly regarded therapist in Washington, who might be a good person to see, or to provide names of good people in your local area (2317 Ashmead Pl. NW, Tel 202-387-8776)
