I once successfully withdrew from BZDs using Lyrica. Pdocs now avoid them due to problems with abuse and horrible withdrawal problems.
Is gabapentin as effective as Lyrica? Could it be used in the same way?/tensor

Isn't gabapentin neurotin? I know several one in real life that uses this for sleep and finds it good for anxiety. If it helps with withdrawal no idea. Scott posted that some use trileptal to help in withdrawal? Phillipa

Nuerontin is a bit less potent, but in higher doses...like 3500mg daily...it does provide its own unique effect....i was on both lyrica and nuerontin at diffrent times...lyrica is more better...yet its max dose is 600mg...but im sure there's doctors that will go above that.
There both in the same class and work vary similar to there effects expect nuerontin has a bit diffrent effect....its hard to explain. There both used offlabel for anxiety.
Stay with lyrica...maybe increase the dose...it will help mood and anxiety...nuerontin you can give it a try....just have to get your doctors approval.

tensor-
gabapentin/neurontin is not a great med for many. it made me manic. very manic. when you're taking high doses, withdrawal is awful. and i find it exacerbates anxiety.
just my 2 cents.
