topamax for appetite suppression

i was in the office the other day telling my doctor my hunger at night was off the wall....she told me they use that for that reason...im already on zyprexa and lamictal...that's 3 moodstablizers...that's alot....nothing feeling natural at all...drug controlled brain, not fun.

But does anyone here take topamax? any reports?

Could you try taking a 25mg ephedrine tablet in the evening (Bronkaid - sold over the counter for astham)

Ephedrine can cause agitation and hypertension though, be careful.

I have also been thinking, off and on, about taking topiramate/Topamax (not sure on spelling of either) for appetite supression. I have discussed it with my psychiatrist. He's not a big fan of it, but would be willing to let me try. The big thing that has held me back from going forward with it is the common side effect of it lowering people's intelligence while on it (hence it's nickname Dopamax).

Jono, ephedrine was taken off the market for over-the-counter sales in the United States some years ago.

Oops, maybe I misspoke about the U.S. legal status of ephedrine. (Maybe I mixed it up in my mind with PPA?) In any case, I would be pretty cautious about the ephedrine and it's possible effects on the heart.
