How long for parnate trial when maybe worse

Posted by alchemy on November 20, 2012, at 13:35:57

Its so hard to give it more time. Ive slowly increased my dose over for at least a month with no help. Ive only recently increased my dose to 40mg, but i am miserable. Granted, this misery is not new, but i still wonder if it is making me worse. If i have 2 more consistent days of being this bad i think i will have to give up on it.

Maybe its time to give up on it...? I have just read a couple posts where they feel worse and then better on parnate. But when i feel like crying most of the time and taking a leave of absence again that probably isnt good. But maybe i was like this before starting it.

hey there, my depression only improved once I hit 60mg .. will your psychiatrist let you go that high?

Thanks for responding. How did u feel before u hit 60mg? I am still so down. My pdoc will say if i havent had any improvement at 30mg than it is unlikely. I could probably talk him into going higher, but i am so low i have lost hope in it. And the higher i go the longer and harder it is to withdraw. It is so unfair that meds that dont help can cause more depression getting off of them.
Hoping you will reply soon,
Alchemy

I can't recall .. I think I felt quite agitated and dysphoric and my mood was darker overall; it felt like the stimulant effect was more prominent. I know another poster said it made him quite teary at lower doses (NE drugs do the same to me).

If you're desperate, I think it might be worth trying 60mg (more SE at that dose), but I would hate to push you into something that doesn't work out ..

Thank you. How did you decide to take the risk to go higher if you felt like it was making you worse?

a) Desperation (was running out of stuff to try) ..

and b) had been in contact with someone on here (who I referred to in my post above) who said they felt worse until they hit 60mg.
