Reg doc says.../Is this true?

Posted by sheilac on October 31, 2012, at 6:07:07

I mentioned that Adderall XR 5mg tends to make me a little hyper, then when it wears off irritable.

My pdoc said it makes me irritable because it wears off. But it has to wear off sometime, doesn't it?

My regular doc said that I am not taking enough. She said that I should take 5mg XR about 6:30/7:00 am and then another 5mg XR around lunchtime. She said this would put off the let down until later in the evening maybe avoiding the irritability and also avoiding the hyperness.

Does anyone have experience with this? Is this true? My regular doc says I just haven't been taking enough.

What do you think?

I, for once, am going to follow my doc's order and take it 2x a day and maybe that will work for me.

My pdoc said that the reason I was getting irritable was because the 5mg XR was wearing off. She said if it wore off later in the evening and then I went to bed I wouldn't be experiencing the highs and lows from it.

We'll see. It is a simple solution to my ADD issue.

I think the crash at the end is sort of like a short-term withdrawal syndrome. Have you tried Vyvanse? I found it way smoother with less of a crash.

>Does anyone have experience with this?

A lot of people experience irritability when their Adderall dose wears off. Or Ritalin or dex...Its like part of the brain goes, "nooooooooooooooooo...give me back!"

>Is this true?

Yes it is. Its why they make Vyvanse and Concerta :) (well, not the only reason)

>My regular doc says I just haven't been taking enough.

This is not true. Its about how long it lasts.

>What do you think?

I think you should go on Vyvanse and figure out some way to fight the insomnia.
