Haven't seen this version. The forum is wonky but it's good to see him. Been a while.

He always was one to design Babble and then study the outcome. Not experiment exactly, but perhaps a sociological study. And if the particular experiment suits his own needs at the moment, so much the better.
Either that or he just doesn't care much.
Actually I tend to think the latter.
Either way, I'm grateful that he continues to provide the bandwidth. I have things I need to copy from the archives, so I hope he gives us notice if he ever tires of the cost.

I'm trying to decide if I like seeing him here or not. I'd reached a comfortable level of detachment towards Babble as a whole, though not of course to old friends on Babble.
Bob's presence somehow threatens that detachment and indifference.

Coming back knowing how he was and seeing how he is was quite a shock. He's personable, kinda. The board is a mess but after all of the blocking and fighting and arguing I would have probably done the same thing or just said enough.

I've managed to calm down. I was on a tear for a while.

OMG, I'm not the only one?! I've been thinking that it would make quite an experiment and explain the inaction to posts which I consider uncivil, but it would be like a full time job!

Maybe I'm naive, but we know what Dr. Bob looks like (and he's Asian, with an Asian last name), and most Asians aren't Jewish. Not that is any kind of logic. I was just thinking aloud.
Maybe I'm totally off here. Why do you guys think that?

For what it's worth, I don't actually think it's the case -- it would be too much effort given Dr Bob's presumed workload elsewhere -- it's just a thought that occurs from time to time. After all, this is one big experiment!

I still think they are one in the same. As was emailing and trying to teach civility and how to post to L many times. Now this would be an experiment in human behavior. As we have or most don't use real names. And look at blocked posters that keep changing names. How does one know who's making stuff up about themselves? Phillipa
