Hi, I'm 37 years old and I've had ADHD-like syntoms since childhood.
I live in Italy and therefore I don't have easy access to stimulant medications.
The best effective med I've tried so far is Anafranil which I found effective even at low doses (10-50 mg). It helps a lot with impulsivity and somehow even with concentration, but it definetely worsens my spontaneous attention and ability to relate with others.
I didn't do well on Ritalin and SSRIs.
I'm looking for something similar or, just in case, something completely different.
Thanx in adavance

To treat adult adhd, the bottom line is stimulants. Everything else is lacking. You can take Strattera or Raboxetine. Nortryptaline is sometimes helpful.
Have you ever been on Dextroamphetamine?

Hi, thanks for the answers.
I've not tried and I cannot try dextroamphetamines since I live in Italy and they are not an option in my country.
Since I've tried a lot of medications in the last twenty years I'm not sure I want to start another session of trial-and-error in the field of psychiatry.
With Anafranil my life quality is fine (even if not excellent) so I'm thinking about integrating with supplements. Any idea about it?

Desipramine, Nortryptaline or Straterra are your best bets.

You might give Ritalin another try in the form of Concerta, which is extended release and doesn't have the ups and downs of immediate release. Provigil is another good option. Since you live in Europe, I think Adderall is illegal?
