You wrote[...If you have something to add please do....I had to get off the Seroquel...]
There are two ways that I know of to overcome depression/addiction. One by {human acheivement}, the other by {divine accomplishment}. I do not know of anyone that has been healed of depression/ addiction by human acheivement by taking psychotropic drugs. Now I am talking about healing from years of druggin'. As I see in your case, members here could just keep on telling you to take more drugs. Others could tell you to use Mr. Beck's therapy or such. But I say to you, that today you could go on a new road, and sing a new song. A song of life. This song comes from one having a new heart a new spirit, a new life. A life free from pain, free from crying, free from slavery, free from death. A life of peace and joy.
If you want to go on a new road, a road that leads to freedom and life and life more abundantly, now is a time to make that decision. Do you want more drugs that could lead to death? In the new road there is healing. This healing is of the spirit. And when the spirit of man is healed, then the mind can be healed. And truth could be revealed and when you know the truth, you are made free from the lies of the world that shackle people in slavery and depression and addiction. And when the chains of depression/addiction are unlocked, you could go out in joy and sing, "Free at last free at last. Thank God almighty I am free at last."

Well you know how bipolar is. I'm a walking contradiction. After asking for everyone's help, last night I thought, I am sick to death of talking. I told my best friend that I would be out of touch for a while. I've dumped on him enough. I will deal with this and I'll get through it. Hopefully they will be seeing me at NAMI meetings soon.If I ever feel I'm in danger the psych ward is 5 minutes from me and I enjoyed my first stay so...
I think everyone knows there are times you need to reach out and there are times you just want to be left alone to think things through. I'm not suicidal or having any thoughts of it. I just want to let it go for a while. Thanks for your responses. Babble has always had the best people and all you have to do is go to other forums to see that. Thanks again. I'll be back when my hermit mode passes. Oh, I still have some of the 300 mg Seroquel and if I get worse I'll call my doc for his blessing to go back up till we think of something else

Doesn't disability come with some sort of medical coverage? It seems rather counterintuitive. Or is that the medication gap in insurance? I've never understood the priorities of coverage. Surely it's cheaper to make sure someone is adequately treated than to pay for the consequences of the lack of treatment?
I agree that there is a lack of information out there about the drugs that doctors hand out. I was taking whatever they gave me for diabetes until I looked into the matter. Consumers must trust but verify, and do their own research about what goes into their bodies.
I've always responded rather well to AP's, so I can't really negatively comment on them. Other than that I try to minimize my use of them because of the blood sugar issue. I compare my life to before and after, and after definitely wins.
No matter how inactive Babble gets, you could never be invisible. It's the Babble participants who have known you for so long that have issues with visibility, myself included. I apologize for that. It doesn't mean the Babblers who have known and cared about you so long have quit caring about you just because they aren't here, or aren't here on a regular basis. Certainly it doesn't in my case.

I did go thru Needy Meds. They linked to mfg and get this, here's their deal. I pay the first $25, they pay $75 and I pay the rest. I thought, what kind of deal is that? I guess they can't afford to do more seeing how they've only sold a trillion of those pills.
Vyvance gives you a coupon. What's it worth? They don't say.

Howdy. I took Adderall years ago and liked it OK. It's generic now and I don't remember the price. For me, Vyvance blows Adderall away. It does last 12-14 hours and it is really even. For me one of my favorite drugs but they are proud of it. I think the Add. was pretty cheap and it's close enough.
A shrink before my current one put in my chart that I had drug seeking behavior. When my current doc told me that I almost fell out of my chair. I told him that when I was young I did meth but no one hates that drug worse than I do now. It was 32 years ago. I also told him his drugs were like popping an aspirin to me. Yes they work but I have no plans of getting strung out. Besides I thought 1200 mg a day was a reasonable request. :)

Thanks. When I took Ritalin I liked Barr's version. I got a script one time for it and it was thin and crumbly. I couldn't make out what it said on the pill but I think it was Cartel with viva la Mexico on the other side. They bricked it to get thru customs.

Yeah it is. My post below is a report I received about the cause of weight gain. I went to ask a patient and was surprised to find so many people didn't gain weight. I guess the report kind of clears it up. I dunno. (waddles to refrigerator)

Thanks Jane. I wrote in my blog a few days ago that yeah I need meds, should eat better but what people with MI need is someone to listen. I sent it to my brother who kind of didn't want to listen that much. He called me this morning and we talked for 2 hours, just shooting the breeze no mention of the blog. I have never ever talked that long on the phone to him. It was like the best drug in the world. I also felt like he really cared and even though I knew he loved me, I put in the blog that love is a verb not just a feeling. Really I was incredibly proud of him!

No one wants to take meds. I've been on them for 30 years with very few very short breaks. I sunk like a rock. I believe people most of the time when they say that God saved their life. And I went through a religious period in my thirties including baptism and reading the Bible. I understood what was being said and I have respect for those following that path. But honestly, I've come full circle and just don't buy it anymore. Jesus was a good man. Son of God, virgin birth, Adam and Eve, heaven and hell. Fairy tales.
I want to be honest, I'm not flexible on this and I don't want to talk religion and I don't want to be told how I should address my mental illness.
I do respect your view but I just don't want to have to explain myself so I won't reply to another post concerning this. I like you and your sincere offer to help but I won't get into this discussion. I hope you can respect that.

I think it was reducing my dose. The wackiest period I had was spring which also leads the seasons in suicides if memory serves.
It's odd in a way, you feel better than you've ever felt in your life and they give you meds to stop it before it gets any more fun. Psychiatry is bizarre.

Wow. Bookmarked. Awesome. I have an old schoolmate and we have hooked up again via facebook. I had not talked to her in 40 years and she has a lot of things going on including a really nasty depression. I picked up the phone and called her today. She is working with two doctors to get off meds and trying minerals, supplements etc. I hope it works for her because she's one of the sweetest people I know. I'll send this to her and she will crater. I think we all need that sometimes. Thank you!

Hey sister!! When I decided that disability was really the thing to do, not what I wanted and I wish things were different. Anyway, when I started my insurance, high risk, PCIP (Obama's pre-existing insurance deal(getting t i r e d)Cobra figuring out the maze I realized, something is f***** up.
SSDI will not offer Medicare until 2.5 years from your disability date. BUT if I get down to my last $2000, I can get SSI(welfare)then you get Medicare immediately. If someone would care to explain what genius' in Washington thought that one up...
With PCIP, you can sign right up, oh, but you have to be uninsured for the prior 6 months. But some states administer that plan and in Texas it's called the f*** you plan.
Or I can jump into the high risk pool and pay $700 a month and get a super plan, with a $10,000 deductible and enormous co-pays.
Or my therapist has a patient that uses one of the community plans, whatever you call them. She gets to the bad side of town at 7 a.m. and he said she usually can see a doctor by 11:30 or 12:00. She brings a book.
It is an absolute nightmare. If you get really sick and have to go to the hospital and they let you in you are guaranteed sub-standard 'care' and sometimes they will come to your bedside seeing what they can collect. This is true.
I'll never vote for a Republican and if I did Romney would be last on my list. If you've heard any of what he's said about hospitals and no insurance I personally believe you would have to be out of your mind to vote for him. He has no clue.
If you fall through the cracks in this country you will learn why there are people living in the streets.
Medicaid? Hospital? They call them Medicaid Mills. Hospital gets paid by how many they treat. I stumbled onto a nurses forum a few weeks ago. They could not take it anymore watching patients get shoddy care so they could be rushed out and the hospital could fill the bed ASAP.
I know the country doesn't have an endless supply of money but these are human beings. We send billions in aid to everywhere in the world and I have no problem with that but what about us? (rant) Just how many bombs, fighter jets, aircraft carriers, drones, nuclear bombs is enough? But cut defense spending? Are we out of our minds? Who's coming? We're the ones that stir up the ****. It may look different but where do we get the true story from? I'll stop there but yes, good luck on insurance. They know what they pay for disability and they know that insurance will take half. If it were up to the right wing, you wouldn't get a dime because you are the problem 47%. What do I know?

The lawyer I used for Disability gave me a folder with a lot of info in it. There was as bright red sheet that said SSI is welfare. I don't remember what his point was.
But I've also read that it's not even though it supposedly comes out of the general tax fund.
What I want to say is that if people need help then I don't care what it's called and welfare has a really negative connotation.
If I need it someday it wouldn't make me happy but starving to death wouldn't either.

It just seems odd that they'd deny medicare, even for two years. Disability isn't all that easy to get. You'd think that by granting it, you're also acknowledging the need for medical care.
I saw you've been able to get affordable generics. Provigil has finally come out in generic, but so far it's a specially arranged generic that doesn't bring the cost anywhere near affordable without insurance. Pharmaceutical costs are definitely something that should be addressed, along with FDA approval.

D-we are helping people from day one
R-No, one year
D-Six months
R-Two years
D-One year
R-Three years
D-Two years and that's that
R-Two years plus five months
D-Deal.Provigil, for me, was a placebo. Tried it twice and couldn't believe it was on the market.
