pleasant dreams a sign of depression lifting?

Posted by pal ed ism on October 12, 2012, at 12:08:14

Are pleasant dreams a sign of depression lifting? I am 8 weeks on Wellbutrin 300 and Prozac 20 was added in two weeks ago. Two nights ago I experienced at least two pleasant dreams from which I woke up from, charged with a feeling of well-being, even elation. I have not recalled a pleasant dream for many months. Should I take this as a sign that the meds are working. Do meds give you back your ability to have non-depressing dreams?

I think the fact that you wake up with a feeling of well-being is the biggest sign that the meds may be working. I know of no research that says that ADs give you pleasant dreams, but it's certainly more than possible, and it's definitely a good thing! Hope you start to feel even better.
My best,
Kat

You seem to no that you are feeling better so thats the main sign. AD,s sometimes give you bad dreams has a side effect . So its a good sign if you missing out on that particular side effect.

Congrats!!! Seems like you have hit on a combo that works for you. How long have you been on the meds before this occurred? Phillipa

Nightmares and dreams are not always connected to our better or worse moods. What's important is how you felt when you woke up and how you felt about the dreams on waking.
