I've heard that tachycardia (fast heart rate) and hypotension are very common side effects of Parnate. I would like to try Parnate, but I have a history of tachycardia with meds, and am now on Vivactil 20mg and atenolol to bring down the heart rate.
Because so many meds are contraindicated with Parnate, what would I do if I had tachycardia and hypotension? Meds like atenolol bring heart rate and blood pressure down, so that would mean I would get rid of the tachycardia, but make the hypotension worse. I'm just confused.

You could use Florinef for the hypotension, it works by making the body retain salt and fluid and thus keeps the BP up
Betablockers tend to only lower elevated blood pressure, not normal BP, so that shouldnt be an issue

I had that problem from a combo of Parnate and Adderall. Heart rate 135, bp 60/40. It went away but it was disconcer th ing.
Do you get chest pain or arrythmias with it?

Forgot to add- very low bp will often elevate your heart rate, your heart trying desperately to get enough blood pumped. It puts a terrible strain on the heart and can lead to death. You'd have to be very careful to keep it all in balance, with meds for each issue.

Good to now as I am going to start Parnate in a couple of weeks.
This is the end of the thread.
